RK
Performed for the last ten years, Radial keratotomy or RK is the most established of the surgical procedures used today. The surgeon will use a hand held diamond instrument to place microscopic incisions in a radial pattern in the cornea. The incisions correct nearsightedness or astigmatism by reshaping the cornea to allow light to focus correctly on the retina. The procedure only takes about five minutes to complete. Approximately a million people have benefited from this procedure.
