Dr. Jerome P. Schartman joined Retina Associates of Cleveland, a Jp Schartmangroup practice with 8 vitreoretinal physicians and surgeons who provide specialized care at offices throughout northeastern Ohio, in 2009. He received his BA degree from Greensboro College in North Carolina and his MD degree from the University of Maryland. He also obtained a Master’s in Music degree from Catholic University in Washington, DC. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Pennsylvania and his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship with Retina Consultants in Albany, New York.
Dr. Schartman is Board-certified in ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retinal Specialists, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
Dr. Schartman has expertise in the full range of medical and surgical retina diseases, including all aspects of the management of retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration as well as the treatment of posterior uveitis and intraocular tumors. He is the co-author of several publications in major ophthalmology journals, participates as in investigator in clinical research studies, and lectures on vitreoretinal diseases and treatment to fellow retinal specialists, ophthalmologists, and other healthcare professionals.
